2026 World Congress of Marine Stations Host Announced
We are thrilled to announce the next host for the 2026 World Congress of Marine Stations

Advancing Networked Observation of Marine Ecosystems and the Marine Station Partnership Initiative in China
The coastal zone is a vital component of global sustainable development and a key area of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. However, coastal ecosystems are under increasing stresses from both human activities and climate change. There is an urgent need to establish a long-term and systematic observation and research platform for the coastal ecosystems.

Seascape Symposium II: Reconnecting the Seascape
On 4th and 5th June 2025, ZSL will hold a second Seascape Symposium, “Reconnecting the Seascape”, in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth and the University of Edinburgh.

Regional and Global Networks
WAMS is a global marine network, which includes regional and other global networks within its hierarchy. Marine networks provide opportunities for marine stations to collaborate and share knowledge, and are vital for transformative ocean science.


World Congress of Marine Stations
Representatives from a wide range of marine stations and networks came together at the World Congress of Marine Stations in November, 2021.
Informing International Policy
